2008 Honoree – Alex Neptune

Alex Neptune, our founding Alumni President, class of ’70, says that he was lucky to attend Charlestown Government Secondary School in the glory days of the school.

He credits the bright, enthusiastic teachers, together with the genius of the first Headmaster, Mr. Edgar Wilson, with providing a nurturing environment. As a result, he and many other students, not only excelled in Academics, Drama and Sports, but went on to become well rounded professional and caring adults.

Alex is proud of the accomplishments of the Alumni Association over the years, including the donation to the school of hundreds of books and school supplies, the establishment of a Computer Lab, The Edgar Wilson Scholarship Award and many other initiatives. His contributions definitely made a difference in the students’ lives.

He also knows that the accomplishments we have made at the school and the wonderful reunions we have enjoyed over the years are because of the many long hours of work that the entire committee has put in, and also the unwavering support of the many alumni and friends.

Most of all, Alex would like to thank his wife Brenda and children Kyle and Alisha for sharing him with the association and also supporting the cause.

Although family commitments have caused Alex to step down from the day to day operations of the Association, he continues to support the Association in many ways.
The one wish that Alex has is that the Alumni Association continues to grow stronger, so that the work it is doing at Charlestown Government Secondary School continues to touch more students.
