In Memoriam: Dedicated, On This The 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE FOUNDING OF CHARLESTOWN GOVERNMENT SECONDARY SCHOOL, TO THE MEMORY OF THE FIRST HEADMASTER, EDGAR M. WILSON, AS AN ENDURING TESTIMONY TO HIS TIRELESS EFFORTS IN ESTABLISHING THIS SCHOOL AND LEADING IT DURING HIS TENURE, TO BECOME ONE OF GUYANA’S FINEST LEARNING COMMUNITIES. HIS ERUDITION, WISDOM, GENTLENESS, DISCIPLINE AND PASSION FOR EXCELLENCE – QUALITIES PASSED ON TO HIS STAFF AND STUDENTS – STOOD HIM APART FROM THE ORDINARY. HE WAS LOVED, RESPECTED, ADMIRED AND HONOURED BY ALL WITH WHOM HE CAME IN CONTACT.
IT IS OUR SINCERE WISH – HIS FAMILY, FORMER STUDENTS AND FRIENDS – THAT MR. WILSON’S HUMANITY AND SUCCESS IN MENTORING A GENERATION OF OUTSTANDING CITIZENS OF GUYANA WILL SERVE AS INSPIRATION TO ALL WHO ARE ASSOCIATED WITH THIS SCHOOL COMMUNITY, AND THAT THE GUIDING LIGHT OF HIS PHILOSOPHY: THAT EVERY PERSON DESERVES TO RECEIVE THE BEST EDUCATION POSSIBLE, REGARDLESS OF RACE, CLASS, CREED, SOCIAL STANDING OR FINANCIAL MEANS, WILL FOREVER BE REFLECTED IN THE POLICY OF THIS SCHOOL.
