In 1989, recognizing the economic realities of their homeland and the immense contribution made to their development by Charlestown Government Secondary School (CGSS), and especially by its first Headmaster, Mr Edgar Wilson, the founding members: Alex Neptune, Henry Muttoo, Gail Clement, Hubert Harte, Lennox Jones and Desmond Ross, formed a committee that created the Charlestown Alumni Association.
The initial objectives were to assist the students of CGSS with much-needed books, supplies and equipment and to provide an annual scholarship, in the name of Mr Edgar Wilson, to an outstanding student. It was also proposed to honour Mr Wilson by installing a bust in his likeness to be displayed permanently in the school’s auditorium.
SUBSEQUENTLY, THE CHARLESTOWN ALUMNI ASSOCIATION WAS CREATED!
